Flag: Represented by a red cross set on a white background. This cross is known as the Saint George’s Cross and has represented England in various forms from as far back as the Middle Ages and the Crusades.  
National holiday: April 23rd  Saint George’s Day, celebrated in honour of Saint George, the patron saint of England. 
Natural features: The south of England is mostly low-lying land, with hills and agricultural land and the north of England is mostly covered in moorland and mountains.

United Kingdom

Capital city: London. Largest city: London. Official language: English. Gentilic: British. Currency: Pound sterling. Population: 63.181.775. National symbol: Britannia.
Flag: It is called the Union Jack or the Union Flag.  It was created in 1606 by the superimposition of the flag of England on the flag of Scotland and updated in 1801 with the addition of Saint Patrick’s flag (representative of the flag of the island of Ireland) Wales is not represented in the Union Flag, as Wales had been conquered and annexed to England prior to the formation of the United Kingdom.
Constituent countries: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It has also fourteen overseas territories. It is important to notice that the United Kingdom (UK) is not the same as Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales)
Northern Ireland: It is the only part of the UK that shares a land border with another state, the Republic of Ireland. Its capital city is Belfast and the region has a population of 1.810.863 people. It was created in 1921, when Ireland was partitioned.

Name: Land of the Celtic Britons. In Welsh, Cymru, land of the fellow-countrymen. Capital city: Cardiff. Largest city: Cardiff. Official languages: English and Welsh. Gentilic: Welsh. Currency: Pound sterling. Population: 3.063.456. National symbol: The daffodil and the leek.


 
Flag: Represented by a red dragon (of Prince Cadwalader) on a green and white field (Tudor colours) National holiday: March 1st Saint David’s Day, celebrated in honour of Saint David, the patron saint of Wales. 
 
Natural features: Wales is a mountainous country on the western side of Great Britain. It is bordered by England to the east, the Bristol Channel to the south, St George's Channel in the west, and the Irish Sea to the north. Tallest mountain: Snowdon (1.085 m.) Main river: River Towy (103 km.) Wildlife: Puffin, whale, red-billed chough, porpoise, red kite and goshawk. 
Significant monuments and places: Caernarfon Castle, Pentre Ifan and Cardiff Castle.

Scotland

Name: Land of the Gaels. Capital city: Edinburgh. Largest city: Glasgow. Languages: English and Scottish Gaelic. Gentilic: Scottish or Scots (colloquial) Currency: Pound sterling. Population: 5.313.600. National symbol: The thistle, the kilt and the bagpipe.
 
Flag: Represented by a blue x-shaped cross set on a white background. This cross is known as the Saltire or Saint Andrew’s Cross and has represented Scotland from as far back as the 16th century. 
National holiday: November 3oth. Saint Andrew’s Day, celebrated in honour of Saint Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland.
Natural features: Scotland is a mountainous country in the north of the island of Great Britain and shares a land border to the south with England and is bounded by the North Sea on the east and the Atlantic Ocean on the west. It has some 790 islands - 130 inhabited. It also has fresh water lochs (lakes) One of the most famous is Loch Ness, where a mysterious monster  (Nessie) is said to lurk in its depths.  
Tallest mountain: Ben Nevis (1.343 m.) Main river: River Tay (188 km.) Wildlife: Red fox, red deer, red squirrel, mountain hare, grey seal and salmon.
