A new project for the holidays

Dear students:

I am happy to announce that a new  project is here for the holidays!!!

This activity is, of course, voluntary, and it will give you the opportunity to win stickers and points for your Hogwarts houses.

My proposal here is to start a photovoice project. This method is a way of giving voice to your neighbourhood's reality through images and text. Those who daily live that reality have a lot to say about the ongoings of the place.

As it is, you will have to prepare an activity where you will need to take two or three pictures of the places you like the most, trying to capture curious things (architecture, old memories, playing area...) However, photographs of people are not allowed!!!

As for the text, you will need to describe why you have chosen those places and your feelings about them.

Both the photos and the text must be in one document (word, pdf, OpenOffice...) and must be brought to school on a flash drive or usb pen.

The deadline will be April, 28th.

Those students that hand in a good project will get two stickers, 10 points and a positive added to their English marks.

Thank you in advance for your effort!!!

Kind regards.

How to study for a written test

• Study the vocabulary:
➔ 1st page of the unit
➔ Story words
• Read the grammar boxes. Understand and learn them. You can check your notebook.
• Read your activities from the last pages of the activity book: ALL ABOUT GRAMMAR. Do them again in your notebook or a piece of paper.
• Make up sentences using the grammar and the vocabulary from the unit.

Voluntary activity

I propose a new activity for this month: an essay about what you expect from these oncoming holidays. This, of course, is voluntary and the dateline is December 20th. Although voluntary, you (or a family member) have to be a follower of https://ourdearpets.blogspot.com to participe.
All the students who hand out this essay will be awarded a sticker for the English coupon.
* Bear in mind that only a correct essay will be taken into account. There can be some mistakes, but it has to be presented properly, in blue pen, on a clean piece of paper, 6 lines minimum,  but no maximum.  You can receive help at home, but the main work must be yours.
I will not explain this in class as this is a voluntary activity and you can also check this blog anytime you want.
Kind regards.

Art through the ages

Our lesson plan in Art this school year  in grade 6th is 'Art through the ages'.

I am introducing the subject with an explanation,  a presentation  on the digital board and a video about Altamira and Prehistoric Art.

Here are some examples made by my students:

Our first activity through History was about the Celts, that is, Stonehenge. The students did a great job drawing the stones and using watercolours to finish their paintings. See for yourselves!

Moving on! Now we are studying the mysterious and amazing Ancient Egypt. This year, The bust of Nefertiti is our main task.
First, the students worked on a symmetry. Then, they coloured the drawing, doing, as always, a fantastic job. Here you can check the final result:

Our next craft is related to our ancient history: The Iberians.
I thought that the children would be quite motivated if we made a cardboard shield, a caetra. Thank goodness I was not mistaken! The kids did an amazing job. Have a look!

Ancient Greece brought us a caryatid this month. A very difficult work, indeed! But, as I have expected, my students excelled at it. Have a look, please!

This year, the MARQ was supposed to held an exhibition of The terracotta warriors of Xi'an. However, it was not possible in  the end.
Nevertheless, I decided to honour these magnificent statues with an activity.
Check it out!

Our last activity was a clay workshop to create a lucerna, that is, an oil lamp. We spent all morning making this craft from the Roman period. This was the perfect closure for a very special year.
